Turning Interest Into Action

Engr. Joselito Ero

Deputy Secretary General - for Philippines

Envoy, Navotas Community Outreach Mission

I am very happy and proud that I met the right set of people with a common goal of helping the community. UFPCS was formed based on sheer passion to help and improve the lives of one another.

As an OFW here in Singapore, we all encounter many challenges not only with our employers and our family, but even with friends and the environment around us. It is indeed challenging to work overseas in order to improve our way of life. We almost always struggle to survive. UFPCS became one of my channels in order to ease the burden of work, of solitude, and of life as a whole.

I feel so blessed looking at how this organization was formed and I really feel that we are purposely bound to unite for a common purpose.

Being alone for so many years created so much emptiness inside me.  Before, I do not have someone to talk to and to rely on. But I do not feel that way anymore because I found my second family here in Singapore. They are always here for me when I knock on our group portal. Everyone sends out daily greetings and well wishes. To me, I already found a second family that I can trust – and that is UFPCS.

Furthermore, sharing of ideas is very important to us because we do believe that Education is a perpetual personal responsibility. We had different lectures such as on health, discussions on climate Change, how to take care for our environment, and how we can personally help ease pollution. Knowledge sharing adds up to our value as a human being and it will certainly benefit everyone around me because, as a leader, I will become duty bound to share this knowledge to the rest of the community.

We had financial literacy lectures, which has a good impact to all members on how to deal and handle our own salary. One of our main concerns is (of course) to NOT go back in the Philippines with an empty pocket. We also learned how to give and share our blessings to one another in our group.

I am very grateful to everyone who did a great job in sharing great knowledge to the members!

Another good example with UFPCS is that everyone really cares to each of us. No one could say that I can’t help just because my wallet is empty - everyone else gives their fair share if one member of our group has financial troubles. Each one of our members would openly share his / her help to the other member in need.

Lastly, sharing of blessings through outreach missions in the Philippines is what also makes UFPCS very valuable. We share anything that could help a community in need in the Philippines especially to those unfortunate kids or families. To me, it is my investment in heaven when we do good deeds here on Earth. Of course, I offer all of these to Him. My experience with the Navotas Community Project is one best example as well and I certainly learned a lot from it.

This is one of the many reasons why I love UFPCS and I will be dedicated to our organization. We are formed not just for our own benefit, not just for our countrymen, but most of all - our Mother Earth.

Mabuhay ang UFPCS and I hope to be an inspiration to you. This is my story line.
